What is Corridos Tumbados?

Corridos Tumbados, sometimes called Trap Corrido, is a new Mexican music genre that seamlessly fuses traditional corridos with trap and hip-hop elements. It's characterized by its distinctive blend of acoustic guitar-driven melodies, accordion riffs, and trap drums.

The genre experienced an exponential rise in 2021 and Corridos artists became some of the fastest-growing in the world. In 2024, Corridos Tumbados is expected to grow, and new artists are constantly entering the charts and populating the largest streaming playlists.

This genre reflects a cultural evolution, bridging the gap between traditional Mexican musical heritage and the modern influences of urban music. Artists within the Corridos Tumbados movement, such as Peso Pluma, Becky G, Natanael Cano, and Ovi, have gained significant popularity worldwide, contributing to the genre's widespread appeal and establishing it as a dynamic and evolving force in the Mexican music landscape.
