Afrobeats: A musical genre with African roots and international reach

Afrobeats has its roots in West African music. It has developed over the years and is now one of the highest streaming genres in many countries, particularly in the African diaspora.

The style emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but the sound of Afrobeats has spanned multiple generations and is now a globally recognized genre. It has been described as a hybrid of styles such as hip-hop, dancehall, and reggae, but its core sound is distinctively African.

Its current sound has been heavily influenced by modern technology and production techniques from the West, but its core still remains firmly rooted in African music. In recent years, Afrobeats has become increasingly popular in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries around the world.

Today, Afrobeats is a respected genre of music that has brought African music and culture to the international stage. Some notable artists in the genre include Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
